Governor – Alex Marley

My name is Alex Marley. I am a newly appointed co-opted governor. I live in Bishop Auckland. I have worked in education from the age of 19 and have worked in the town and its surrounding areas throughout this time, being based in several of the local schools and having contact with the majority of the others.

My previous roles as a Learning Mentor and Parent Support Advisor have allowed me to build relationships with children and young people and their families within the community to try and ensure that the child/young person’s well-being was secure and they were able to achieve to the best of their potential. I found these extremely rewarding and I grew very passionate about supporting and guiding.

I am currently working part time as a Teaching Assistant in a Special Needs School and work closely with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. I work part time now due to having two young children of my own and I dedicate the majority of my time to being a mammy. However I am also a Senior Area Manager with The Body Shop at Home which allows me to continue building relationships within the wider community through fundraising and social well-being activities.
